The Kenya Intersex Persons Consortium (KIPC) is a Kenyan based network, newly established in 2024, that brings together intersex-led organizations with a shared mission to transform social and cultural narratives surrounding intersex identities.
Through collaboration, KIPC works to advance a more inclusive and equitable society. The Consortium strives to empower its member organizations to achieve their unique goals while providing support in resource mobilization, securing funding, and accessing essential tools to strengthen their initiatives.
OUR WORK AS A CONSORTIUM
Research and Documentation
Monitoring and Evaluation - Implementing robust monitoring and evaluation practices to assess the impact of the initiatives and ensure accountability.
Mainstreaming of intersex rights across the board - Promoting the integration of intersex rights into various sectors, ensuring intersex issues are recognized and addressed across all levels of society.
Movement building - Movement building among intersex organizations in Kenya is about coming together as a united force to drive real change. Instead of working alone, these groups collaborate, support each other, and amplify their voices to push for legal recognition, better healthcare, and social acceptance. It’s about creating a strong, supportive community where intersex people and activists don’t feel isolated in their fight for dignity and inclusion. By working as one, they can influence policies, challenge discrimination, and build a future where every intersex person is seen, heard, and valued.
Governance and Accountability - As a governing body, KIPC ensures that intersex-led organizations in Kenya operate with integrity, transparency, and inclusivity. Through governance and accountability mechanisms, intersex organizations are better positioned to advocate for rights, provide services, and contribute to policy reforms that benefit intersex persons in Kenya.
